Across the Hudson River, Hoboken Style

After watching so many episodes of Cake Boss at home we ventured across the Hudson River to Hoboken, New Jersey to visit the famous and original Carlo’s Bakery.

It has been known to have lines waiting outside but we were lucky and were able to walk inside straight away – it was still packed.  This was after the expected photos outside of course.

We instantly recognised some of the more common pastries shown on TV in the display cabinets and then waited our turn to be served.

Stuart enjoyed the only item he could eat and the rest enjoyed some beautiful rich tasty creamy treats. Jessica enjoyed her chocolate dipped strawberry, whilst Sarah and Jenna enjoyed a cannoli each.  Mummy’s lobster tail was delicious however they could not manage to finish the dark chocolate mousse despite its small stature, because it was too rich.

We then walked down to the Hudson River and enjoyed a great view of Manhattan before catching the train back.

The afternoon brought more shopping both for clothes and other touristy things, including some purchases from the NBA store.

We now have the weekend remaining before heading back to Dallas on Monday.

I am very jealous. At least you got to try the cakes. For all the patstrie places we saw I did not get to try any of them. Not even the chocolates. It all sounds like a lot of fun sorry Dad could only try one thing, I’m surprised with everyone having dairy free and gluten free these days. Love u xxx
