After a wonderful 8 weeks, the inevitable is here.
We are all currently sitting in the lounge at DFW airport awaiting our Qantas A380 flight back to AU. We are scheduled to arrive back into Sydney at 6am Saturday morning and then we will fly down to Melbourne a couple of hours later.
The operating aircraft was around 6 hours late arriving and here is a photo of it below having just landed at DFW – taken from the lounge.
We have a lot more stuff going home than we brought with us! Here is all our luggage (not showing all our backpacks and carry on luggage) in the bus taking us from the car rental centre to the terminal.
It has simply been the holiday of a life time. We have traveled almost 8000kms by road (and some more by air and sea) and gone through 11 US states as well as 4 other countries in Mexico, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and the Bahamas.
We have loved spending the time with our Texan family in Orlando, Destin and of course in Dallas.
Having said all that and knowing how much we have loved our time away together, we are all looking forward to getting home – there is no place like it.
