Day 5 – Shopping in Tokyo

After a healthy sleep in this morning, after lunch we headed off shopping for the rest of the day.

We started at all of the shops under the Tokyo Skytree which included a Disney store and Daiso.  We bought so much we headed straight back to our apartment to drop things off, before walking back to the Skytree to catch the train to Shibuya.

We headed to the Disney store in Shibuya first and everyone bought something.

We then walked around the crowded streets of Shibuya gazing at all of the lights and people.

We also had to check out the Hachiko statue, which is quite famous.  We saw this statue back in 2014 but didn’t realise its significance.

The statue is a tribute to an Akita dog that came to Shibuya Station everyday to meet his master, a professor, returning from work.   After the professor died in 1925, Hachikō continued to come to the station daily until his own death nearly 10 years later.  An incredible story.

A few years ago we watched the movie ‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale’ which is very loosely based on the same story and is very enjoyable.

After crossing at the famous Shibuya crossing, we jumped back on the train and had dinner back in our apartment.

Saturday tomorrow and most likely more shopping …
