Days 22 – 23: Disneyland Resort

We all got up early from our hotel, had breakfast and left at 7am destined for the Disneyland Resort – one of our favourite places in the entire world.

We picked up our tickets and joined the crowd for the ‘rope drop’ right on 8am at the California Adventure Park.

We immediately headed for the Cars ride ‘Radiator Springs’ which is normally one of the more popular rides (ie. long wait times) and rode it quite quickly.

We then walked across to Pixar Pier to ride the recently re-branded Incredicoaster, which was previously the California Screamin’ ride. It now features the Incredibles family and is still very fast and adrenaline pumping.

We decided to ride it again as the crowds were still so light.

Then we headed not far way to the Toy Story Mania attraction, also one of our family favourites, with bragging rights on the line for best score.

We also rode this a couple of times.

We continued to walk around and stop for a morning tea snack near Goofy Sky School, and then the children rode it. We rode Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! …

… before walking across to visit Disneyland Park for the first time on this trip.

We rode Mum’s favourite ‘Big Thunder Mountain Railroad’ several times, and then the Matterhorn before checking out some of the shops.

We then headed back to our hotel and enjoyed time by the pool with some drinks and snacks. After dinner we headed out to Ross and Marshalls near South Coast Plaza before heading to bed early.

On Tuesday, we headed off again for Disneyland however this time we started in Disneyland Park. We headed straight to Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad several times as well as Haunted Mansion.

We enjoyed some Beignets for morning tea and then rode Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones. The park was a lot busier today and we headed over to California Adventure Park and stopped at Pacific Wharf for lunch.

After lunch we rode Incredicoaster again and walked around Pixar Pier.

… before deciding to head back to our hotel early. Most of us jumped in the pool and we enjoyed many hours sitting by the pool and then later on some drinks and snacks.

After dinner, we headed back to Disneyland and finished day 2 with Toy Story Mania with Sarah achieving her highest ever score (236,000) and almost eclipsing our family record (currently held by Dad), riding Incredicoaster at night and then quickly walking back to Disneyland to watch the firewords show at 9:30pm. Please enjoy the two short videos below from the show:

Wednesday is planned for a quieter day of sleeping in, some shopping and some lazing around the pool.
