Walking through London #2

On Sunday morning we all headed off by around 7:30am.  It was a very cool but gorgeous sunny morning around 8 degrees and the only people around seemed to be the runners out early.

We quickly headed down to Tower of London for a look around from the outside with no people around.  It was interesting to think about the history of the location.  We weren’t that far from the Tower Bridge which looked beautiful in the early morning sunrise.

We crossed the Thames at the Millennium Bridge walking along the south side of the Thames.

It took us around 1 hour to walk down towards Big Ben and Parliament after stopping at the London Eye.  We slowly walked across Westminster Bridge Road bridge and was enjoying the gorgeous early morning sunshine and people around.

We watched Big Ben strike for 9am and enjoyed some morning tea sitting in Parliament Square Garden.  We wanted to go into Westminster Abbey however as it was Sunday morning, there were services running and sightseeing was not allowed.

We then walked around to near 10 Downing Street and watched the Horse Guards Parade.  Once that was done we walked down the Mall towards Buckingham Palace in time for the changing of the guard.

We then walked up to Wellington Arch and towards Knightsbridge.  We visited Harrods and explored every floor.  We went back outside for some lunch and then spent another couple of hours in Harrods walking around to the different sections.

As we had walked so much the previous day and walked another 8kms or so today, we decided to catch the train back to our apartment.

Beautiful smiling faces, great historical sights and all the while keeping fit. Also great shopping, but I must admit I did have to look up some of the shops you went to as they were unknown to me!!
